Net Zero Consultation:

The first step in retrofitting or building your net zero home is to call us or fill out the contact request form to set up a consultation. There we can meet you, view the property, and discuss the goals and details of the project. It’s important at this phase to ask any questions or concerns you might have regarding the project and for client and builder to build a trusting relationship.

Collaborate and Plan:

Once client and builder decide to move forward, a collaboration between the client, architect, and builder is built. It is important that all three members on the team use open and effective communication to be on the same page as this is where the preliminary design, timeline and estimate is formed. This ensures that the needs of the client are met as well as the needs of the builder and general contractor and allows the project to be properly managed and stay on time and on budget.

Estimate:

Once the design and materials are finalized, we get multiple bids from contractors that we’ve used for past projects that assures you competitive pricing. This is due to the detailed plans that we send to them which assures you accurate and apples to apples bids for your project. At this point a detailed estimate and budget is finalized, the permits acquired, and the contract signed.

Build:

Once construction has begun, our project manager will be your liaison throughout the scope of the project. He will keep you updated on the progress of the job and be able to answer any questions you might have during the process of the retrofit or build. This ensures that the quality of work is upheld to net zero standards, and to ensure budget and schedule are upheld.

Finalize and Walkthrough:

Now that your project is completed, it’s time to go over a final walk through of your newly built/retrofitted home and how it operates. A detailed showing of the new systems and how they operate and are monitored will be shown, and further information on how to keep your new home as energy efficient as possible. As always, once completed we are here to assist you with any further questions should they come up afterwards.
